
Water and Weight Loss
Water is essential to everyone but did you know that
it's also extremely beneficial in helping to shed fat
from the body. If our body was starved of water for a few
days we would die from organ failure.
It can be quite scary to think how important water is
to the diet. Our bodies are made of 60% of water and our
organs need to be moisturised regularly to ensure optimum
health. Dehydration can occur in many ways: sweat,
sunstroke, vomiting or not getting enough water in the
diet.
The symptoms of dehydration can be thirst or even a
pounding headaches in some cases. When the body is
moisturised regularly with water it works at its best.
Water is essential to the internal organs especially
the kidneys and liver. The liver is always metabolising
the fat in the body into energy and exactly how good it
metabolises the stored fat is through how much water a
person drinks.
When the kidneys are not running efficiently because
they are dehydrated from a lack of water the liver has to
basically kick the kidneys into touch to start performing
their bodily process again.
Also at times when a person may feel hungry it may
not be actual hunger they have it may just be thirst for
liquid. The body does not know if it is hunger unless
some liquid is drunk. The body cannot differentiate
between thirst and hunger so the brain sends a signal for
food because the brain knows that all foods contains
water.
Drinking extremely cold water helps the body to burn
additional calories because when ice cold water is
consumed the body must use calories to actually heat the
water to the body's own temperature to make use of it in
the body.
Essential water is also contains in fruits and
vegetables. How much water do you add to rice to cook it?
I guess we forget that it's also contained in legumes,
rice and pasta. Water is in most foods which is why it is
not always essential to drink 8 extra glasses of water on
top of the water taken in through the
diet.
Tea, coffee, soda and milk all count towards your
daily intake. And contrary to popular myths about coffee
and tea, although they are diuretics which actually mean
that they actually expel more fluid out of the body than
normal, coffee and tea are still essential fluids needed
by the body.
Ice cold water is beneficial to your weight loss
programme and will help you shed the fat faster. If you
have sensitive teeth just drink the ice cold water
through a straw. As long as its cold and the body knows
it you will be burning extra calories and the great thing
about it all is that water contains absolutely no
calories at all.
