Blood Type and Weight
Loss
There are so many diets out there and one of the ways
to lose weight successfully is through eating for your
own blood type. Obviously not everyone knows what their
blood type is but if you have ever given blood then the
details will be on your donor card or you can take a
blood test and find out from your GP.
The creator of the blood type diet Dr Peter D'Adamo
claims that eating the right foods for your blood type
will lower the risk of diseases, give the body optimum
health and help a person lose weight.
It has been shown to be successful by the media and a
lot of celebrities have taken the diet on and lost weight
successfully. So lets look at it in more detail. The
theory behind the blood type diet stems from the fact
that every body is unique and every blood type deals with
nutrients in a different way.
If an incorrect food is consumed that does not
connect with your blood type then your body may grow
under stress and in effect health problems may occur but
by following a diet catered to your blood type the body's
digestion works efficiently and boosts the immune system
and helps a person lose weight.
So which blood types are there and what do they mean?
The four main blood groups are type O, A, B and AB. Blood
type O is the widely known blood type and A is the second
widely known blood type. B and AB are much more rarer
blood types.
So what should each blood type eat? Blood type O's
should eat a lot of meat so therefore stick to a high
protein diet. Bloody types A should follow a vegetarian
diet. Blood type B work best consuming vegetables, meat,
grains and dairy. And finally AB blood types work well
consuming both A type and B type foods which are
vegetarian based but they can also consume meat, dairy
and grains effectively.
So blood type O's can eat meat but can they eat
anything else? They should stick to a high protein diet
low in carbohydrates and limit their grains, wheat and
dairy products to none.
Obviously calcium supplements would have to be taken
to counteract the lack of dairy but in moderation seeds,
eggs, nuts and selected vegetables can be consumed. Blood
type A's can consume a vegetarian diet but must steer
clear of dairy products.
Blood group B people can consume a wider variety of
foods but the only recommended foods to avoid are nuts,
seeds, processed foods and carbohydrate rich foods. Blood
type AB can consume the diets of both A and B blood
groups.
Other than the B type and AB type, blood group A and
O have limited food choices so their health may suffer
for example through the lack of dairy which may lead to
problems such as brittle bone disease or osteoporosis.
Try it short term and see if it helps you reach your
weight loss goals.
